Woodland Heritage Northwest is an Indigenous owned archaeological and heritage consulting firm.

Our aim is to be the voice for proponents navigating heritage legislation in Ontario. Northwestern Ontario is a vast landscape that is unlike the rest of the province, producing challenges and situations you won’t find anywhere else. We liken it to the “Wild West” given that much of the landscape is untouched by big industry. However, that is changing and with exploration for resources expanding, we are working on the front lines. This work is vital and so is engagement with Indigenous Communities, given that this is their heritage and traditional lands. We work in archaeology from a framework of being fully informed, collaborative, and consent based.

We pride ourselves in the work we do, and we hire people that are interested in taking part in the adventure. Since a lot of our work begins where the roads end, transportation can include helicopter work, canoeing/boating to sites, remote forest investigations and construction camp scenarios. These situations can instill a sense of independence and personal growth. Woodland Heritage Northwest works alongside our employees to foster that growth. We offer industry competitive salaries and hourly wages, plus health benefits. As well, there are opportunities for financial assistance for those who wish to pursue aspects of archaeology for personal growth. All employees partake in Cross Cultural training with Indigenous communities as well as management and human resource training. Woodland Heritage Northwest prides itself in supporting our employees so that they are prepared to lead, supervise and/or run projects.

Woodland is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians.
